We all know who he was, legendary Renaissance man, painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, and much more. Considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time.
In his personal life, he respected life by eating plants only, taking on a vegetarian lifestyle. It is noted that he even would purchase caged birds and release them.
It has been researched in several letters and discussed through the ages.
“Certain infidels called Guzzarati [Hindus] do not feed upon anything that contains blood, nor do they permit among them any injury to be done to any living thing, like our Leonardo da Vinci”
As we teach our children about hero’s and role models, we should point out the strength of character required to be a vegetarian several centuries ago. I know it certainly inspires me.
