Vegetarian Reference: Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla, an inventor who contributed greatly to electricity development, became a vegetarian in the later years of his life.


In an article for Century Illustrated Magazine, he wrote: “It is certainly preferable to raise vegetables, and I think, therefore, that vegetarianism is a commendable departure from the established barbarous habit.”


Furthermore, he believes that with the world hunger situation the way it is, it does not make economic sense to feed animals for slaughter when we could feed many more people the same food to keep them alive. Not to mention killing them he said was “wanton and cruel”
